This policy is provided for transparency. For specific legal advice, consult a qualified professional.
Data Loop Co Pty Ltd (ABN 96 662 736 165) operates dataloop.com.au. This policy explains how we handle personal information we receive through the website and through our work with clients. We have written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@dataloop.com.au and we will explain it.
What information we collect
We collect personal information in a few specific situations:
- Through our contact form. When you submit the form on dataloop.com.au, we collect your name, email address, organisation, the topic you selected, and your message.
- Through direct contact. If you email us or speak with us, we keep the contact details and notes needed to respond and continue the conversation.
- Through client engagements. When we work with a client, we collect information needed to deliver the engagement. This is governed by the client agreement, not this website policy.
- Through website usage data. We collect anonymised information about how the site is used (pages viewed, referral source, device type) through cookies and analytics tools.
The website does not have account creation or login. You do not need to register to use it.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to enquiries you send through the contact form or email.
- Deliver services under a client agreement.
- Improve how the website works and where people find us.
- Comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their marketing. We do not add you to a mailing list because you sent us a contact form message.
Cookies and analytics
The website may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns. These tools place small files (cookies) on your device that record information like page views, time on page, referral source, and approximate location. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not stop you from using the site, but some features may behave differently.
How we store and protect your information
Contact form submissions and other personal information are stored on systems we maintain or on third-party services we have engaged for that purpose. Where reasonably possible we use Australian or Australian-compliant hosting and services.
We take reasonable security measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we treat your information with care.
We retain contact form submissions and email correspondence for as long as we need them to respond, to complete any work that followed, and to meet legal record-keeping obligations. When we no longer need the information, we delete it.
Your rights
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Under that framework, you have the right to:
- Ask for access to the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Ask us to delete personal information we no longer need.
- Withdraw consent for us to use your information, where consent is the basis we rely on.
To make a request, email hello@dataloop.com.au. We respond within a reasonable time, usually within a few business days.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy concern, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Third-party services
The website uses third-party services for specific functions, including form handling, hosting, and analytics. These services have their own privacy policies and handle data under their own terms. We choose providers carefully and do not give them access to your information beyond what is needed for the function they provide.
We do not control how third parties handle data beyond our agreements with them. If you want to know which providers are involved at any point in time, email us and we will tell you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our practices or the law changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last updated. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
